Herbert Erich Marohn

Herbert Erich Marohn age 82, of Clarendon Hills, passed away the evening of November 21. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, 10 meter strip Recon on German border, Morse Code Team Chief.  Dearly beloved husband of Virginia A. (nee Metzger) devoted father of Heidi (Nii MensahMarohn, Inger (John RanosMarohn and Eric (Melissa) Marohn; loving “Opa” of Luke, Gabe and the late Ella; Jennifer Azure and Jamie (John) CrestoLordina and Seth Koranteng; “Gross Opa” of Pearl, Mabel and Amelia.  He is also survived by many cousins, was a loving uncle and friend to many.  Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 3pm to 9pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside.  In State on Tuesday, November 28, 9am until time of a 10am service at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 47th & Brainard Ave., LaGrange.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:30 pm at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to SOFT (Support Organization for Trisomy 18, 13 and Related Disorders; www.trisomy.org) or Faith, Hope and Peace Ministries (fhpministries.org) to which Herb was a charter musical member.   1. I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed talking with Cousin Herbie, especially when we happened upon each other trying to piece the family tree together on Ancestry. My thoughts are with all of you in your time of loss, but he has been greeted by sweet Ella.
