James Marvin Painter

James Marvin Painter, of Darien, died peacefully on June 18, 2017, at the age of 80. He was born in Cleveland, Tennessee to Oliver Roland and Lucy Lee (nee Humbard) Painter. He leaves behind 3 children he adored: Tammy (Roland) Betian, James R. (Lupe Montalvo) Painter, and Mary (Dave) Barnish-Siebold. He felt very blessed to also have 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a very dear sister, Virginia Sandidge. He also leaves his dear friends, the Blalock family, many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. His parents and his 3 brothers: Ken, Frank, and Gene, as well as his loving wife, Robin (nee Kahal), preceded him in death. He retired from Reynolds Metals after many years, and moved to Alabama to live life in the country, hunting and fishing. He loved going to church, reading in his Bible, singing hymns, and helping his neighbors. In his later years he moved back to Illinois, and spent most of them with his daughter, Mary, and her family, where he enjoyed flower gardening, swinging on the porch, and watching sports with “the boys”. He still liked to go for walks, everyone helping keep an eye on him so he could keep on doing it, and so he could socialize. He was greatly loved, and will be deeply missed.
