tromp-photoElizabeth J. “Betty” Tromp (nee Herrgott), age 90, entered the “great beyond” to be greeted by her beloved husband of 54 years, Leonard S. Tromp and bids farewell to her loving children, Mary Ellen (George) Middleton, Denise (Keith) Brennan, Leonard (Gail) Tromp, Peter (Anna Sullivan) Tromp, Elizabeth (Patrick) Little, Patricia (Bill) Gill, Joan Tromp (Eagle) and Virginia Tromp. She now watches over 26 cherished grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Elizabeth was raised in Chicago with dear sisters, Virginia Miller of Cortez, CO and the late Agnes Jaynes of Memphis, TN. She loved to explore the nooks and crannies of her hometown and nurtured in her family a love of travel, theater, art and literature. Towards the end of her life Mom said, “I’m fading away” to her granddaughter Leela said, “You
will never fade from our hearts.” A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 1, at 11:30 a.m. followed by a 12:30 p.m. funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, 124 N. Spring Ave., LaGrange. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to: The Mercy Home for Boys & Girls 1140 W Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607 or Maryknoll Sisters 10 Pinebridge Road Ossining, NY 10562.
